Coliban Region Water Corporation is based in Bendigo and is one of the largest Victorian regional urban water corporations. Our service area covers 16,500 square kilometres including 49 towns and is at the southern gateway to the Murray-Darling basin – Australia's food bowl. About the role

Reporting to the Rural Services Coordinator, you will be responsible for carrying out all duties associated with the operation, maintenance and repair of rural water channels and assets in the Coliban Water region ensuring that supplies are delivered to customers to the agreed levels of service.

You will enjoy working outdoors and have the ability to work unsupervised in remote locations to inspect channels and carry out maintenance work on channels and structures. You will also report on matters such as damage caused by breaks or overflow of channels and customer complaints, as well as compile, coordinate and distribute water deliveries in response to orders.

An exceptional level of accountability and commitment is expected of you, as well as:

  • Experience working in an environment where work autonomy can be demonstrated, which included a mix of physical activity combined with self-planning and delivering to deadlines to achieve daily outcomes. Any trade qualification, water industry experience, industry-based training course such as a Certificate III within the National Water Training Package will be well regarded.
  • Previous experience in manual labour, use of hand tools or mechanical equipment
  • Excellent communication skills in order to effectively deal with customers, members of the public, fellow employees, subcontractors and other relevant authorities in resolving minor problems
  • Ability to use computers in planning and recording customer deliveries, recording maintenance activities, read and interpret plans and drawings of rural network systems.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in remote locations and communicate effectively with landholders
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence


The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2017 Band 1 $64,705 - $69,447 annualised salary range will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience.
