Ambulance Victoria (AV) is seeking an adept risk and assurance professional to join its high performing Corporate Services Division as a Senior Advisor, Risk and Assurance.   

The role is a full-time permanent appointment and is based in Doncaster, Victoria (may involve a combination of working from home and onsite).

About the role

As an expert in the field of risk and assurance, you are a highly skilled practitioner who applies your expertise to innovate the establishment and maturity of an integrated risk management framework to enable the organisation drive continued success.

Reporting to the Department Manager of Enterprise Risk Management, the key responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Drive and innovate the effective execution of AV's Risk Management Framework including risk assessment that supports decision making to help the business units succeed and achieve their objectives.
  • Innovate the ongoing assessment of internal controls and risk treatments to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the scale and complexity of the organisational activities.
  • Develop a meaningful partnership across AV and key stakeholders for a sustainable and effective integration of risk management into organisational processes.
  • Innovate and manage the risk monitoring process to enable a mechanism for effective reporting on organisational risk profile, operational effectiveness of key controls, and identification of new and emerging risks.
  • Drive a positive risk culture to facilitate an environment whereby informed risk-based decision making can occur, identify and harness opportunities, and promote continuous improvement.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have an advanced and extensive contemporary knowledge and experience in areas of risk management, internal controls, audit, assurance and business governance.  You will have a tertiary qualification in risk management, financial or business management or a related discipline, and have relevant professional accreditation.

 Specifically, your key attributes include:

  • You have an advanced knowledge, in-depth grasp and proven experience in applying contemporary risk management principles and useful risk concepts and practices.
  • You have a positive and confident outlook in promoting a vision for risk and assurance that adds value and enable the business to succeed.
  • You have an extensive experience in internal controls and risk treatments to collectively manage risk to an acceptable level.
  • You drive change in a positive manner and increase organisational engagement through effective risk management.  
  • You are innovative and bring a holistic and objective lens to decision-making conversations.
  • You are an effective communicator and have an innovative reporting style across all levels of the organisation in presenting risk profile and those that require focused attention.
  • You thrive in dealing with uncertainty and complex matters to support forward thinking and decisive actions.
  • You are an advocate of continuous learning to build the risk management capability of the business unit.
  • You are a self-starter, self-aware and perceptive to the complexities of key stakeholder relationship management.

The successful candidate will be required to make a Statutory Declaration and undertake an Australian National Criminal Check in conjunction with other pre-employment checks.  Internal applicants will be required to undergo a Professional Conduct Unit check.

AV has introduced salary bands, and this position is graded at AV5.  The AV grade salary range for an AV5 position is $119,839 to $141,669 plus 10% superannuation.  The expectation is that employees will commence at the base of the grade applicable to a position.
