About us

The Victorian Public Sector Commission plays a key role in stewardship of the public sector. It works to strengthen the efficiency, effectiveness and capability of the public sector and maintain, and advocate for, public sector professionalism and integrity.

The Commission is currently reviewing its structure following recent Machinery of Government and staffing changes. It is proposed that it will be aligned around a functional model, comprising of five branches operating collaboratively to support and deliver on the Commission's strategic plan as well as evolve with new opportunities and challenges in the post-COVID public sector environment.

About the role

The Senior Assessor role is responsible for conducting professional, high quality work value assessments of executive positions within the Victorian public sector. The role sits within the Executive Classification Framework Implementation Team which is responsible for a significant reform program relating to the Victorian public sector workforce. The program of work entails the application of a consistent and transparent assessment methodology for classifying Victorian public sector executive positions using tailored work value assessments. The team is responsible for undertaking a large volume of executive work value assessments across the sector throughout 2022 while uplifting the internal capability within organisations to undertake work value assessments in the future.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills and have an advanced ability to analyse and critically evaluate information to establish a strong written evidentiary basis for an assessed classification. You will need to be readily adaptable to changing circumstances and effectively manage all aspects of the assessment process within defined timeframes.

While you have a suitable qualification or equivalent experience in Organisational Development, Human Resource, Management or relevant discipline, experience in training and/or work value assessments would be ideal but not essential.
