About the role:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Business Advisor to join Victoria Police's People Development Command (PDC). PDC is responsible for delivering the services to support the Command in providing education, training and development for all employees of Victoria Police from their initial training and continuously through their career. The Senior Business Advisor reports directly to the Business Manager to support the Command in Finance, Budget and HR establishment.

This newly created position will provide specialist advice and solutions relating to Finance & Budget and HR Establishment. A key component of the role will focus on engagement with Divisions across the Command while providing analysis of data, modelling and interpretation of Victoria Police initiatives to improve Business Decision Making and provide a future focused approach to meeting the ongoing business needs and supporting the strategic objectives of the Command.

The role forms part of the Divisional Leadership Team of the Business Services Division who focus on having meaningful impacts through innovation and collaboration within the Division and across the Command.

Your duties will include:

  • Leading a small team working across the Command's finance and HR functions, including providing advice and guidance, and managing workflow prioritisation;
  • Facilitating the provision of clear, concise and timely reporting to support the effective management and monitoring of the Command's finances and human resources
  • Planning and responding to challenges and risks within the Command through dynamic and innovative solutions.
  • Engaging with stakeholders in determining requirements and helping define and validate business needs.
  • Presenting and explaining complex information in a way that can be readily understood by different audiences.
  • Leading contract administration with subject matter experts to ensure Command is compliant with Victoria Police contract and procurement policy
  • Undertaking other tasks as required.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A collaborative and consultative approach to your role and responsibilities with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated financial literacy with experience in developing and delivering effective management reporting
  • Experience supervising HR and establishment related matters in a business service function or similarly related role
  • IT intuition and a strong understanding of relevant corporate reporting systems.
  • Ability to provide evidence-based advice and proactively manage change initiatives
  • Highly developed written communication skills, with experience in identifying and effectively communicating themes and issues to a non-expert audience.    
  • Strong leadership and management skills underpinned by integrity and discretion.
  • A tertiary qualification in business management and/or finance is desirable.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at the Victoria Police Academy, 1 View Mount Road, Glen Waverley.
