Senior Case Manager

$85,279 - $96,759 plus superannuation

Reporting to the Manager Public Access Reviews, the Senior Case Manager is a member of the Public Access Reviews team, which is primarily focused on preparing formal decision recommendations on FOI review applications. OVIC currently has two Senior Case Manager vacancies and we are looking to fill one ongoing position and one fixed term (12 month) position.

The Senior Case Manager undertakes active case management of review and complaint matters, and any other relevant matters arising from the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act), in an efficient and timely manner. They use their excellent communication and negotiation skills to attempt to successfully resolve matters at an early stage, if appropriate, and to draft recommendations if review matters proceed to a formal review decision.

A knowledge of the FOI Act is preferred.

The Senior Case Manager must be highly organised and have sound skills in conducting complex file work that involves diverse issues and considerations. They must demonstrate attention to detail, critical and analytical thinking, an ability to manage and meet deadlines, and have strong written / oral communication and negotiation / alternative dispute resolution skills. Senior Case Managers are also expected to mentor junior staff.

The Senior Case Manager is expected to be flexible in working between or across the Public Access Reviews team and the Informal Resolution and Complaints team, as directed by their Manager to meet statutory requirements and the teams' business goals.

The role may involve presenting to FOI practitioners and the public on the administration and operation of the FOI Act.

 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Skills in interpreting and applying legislation in a regulatory environment
  • Recent relevant work experience in complaint handling or investigation environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and sound negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • A proven ability to manage competing priorities to ensure tasks are delivered within agreed timelines

A good knowledge of the Victorian public sector and a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire knowledge of relevant legislation.
