What You Will Be Doing

The HOPE Team aims to provide a model of continued care and coordination service for people that have been identified as at risk of suicide, but that currently are not referred to Peninsula Health Mental Health Service for ongoing care. This engagement can be for up to a period of 90 days.

The successful applicant will work with individuals who have attempted suicide or present with serious intent, with expert brief therapeutic interventions to enable improved resilience and self-management of distress. It is anticipated that the Senior Clinical Psychologist will take a lead role alongside other HOPE team members to provide evidence based intervention sessions. This may include Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Problem Solving skills to assist a client improve their resilience and equip the individual to use skills and strategies in order to face any future crises with more confidence.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• Masters or Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology
• Registration under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009.
• Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009
• Have Australian Psychology Board Approved Supervisor status or be willing to undertake required training to obtain Board Approved Supervisor status
• Other relevant tertiary qualification or working towards, in relevant areas such as therapeutic interventions, drug and alcohol or psychosocial interventions.
• Communicates well with and relates to clients from a wide-range of cultures and backgrounds.
• Extensive experience in the mental health field including acute in-patient services and/or community mental health care.
• Proven ability in the management of clients with a major mental illness and in techniques of assessment, crisis intervention, and counselling and psychosocial rehabilitation.
