Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced senior clinician to join our Youth Brief Intervention Service.

The Youth Brief Intervention Service (YBIS) is an integrated component of Austin Health’s Mental Health Triage Assessment and Planning Service (TAPS). The program provides community based and outreach brief assessment and treatment to vulnerable young people aged 12-25 who may not require specialist mental health services but are experiencing psychological distress. YBIS also provide primary, secondary and tertiary consultation support, liaison and mental health education to partner agencies including schools, Headspace and other non-government agencies.

The senior clinician will undertake a direct clinical role as part of the multi-disciplinary team through providing outreach mental health assessment and brief intervention services to young people aged 12-25 experiencing psychological distress and mental health difficulties.  The intervention is completed in collaboration with the young person’s family/carer and other relevant services that work with the young person (e.g. schools and referrers). The senior clinician will also work to build the capacity within key external agencies by offering consultation, support and education in family and systemic frameworks.

All mental health services work within a clinical framework that promotes recovery-orientated practice and supported decision making.

Work with us! Your reward is to work in a collaborative environment which will provide you with opportunities for ongoing training and development. Your benefits will include salary packaging, and employee assistance program.

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory National Police Check conducted by Austin Health and if required, a Working With Children Check.

Austin Health is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to attracting and retaining a diverse workforce that reflects the community we serve.  Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged.
