Senior Clinician – Rapid Response Team

  • Full time and Part Time rotating roster

  • Registered Psychiatric Nurse and Registered Nurse and Senior Allied Health Clinician

  • Royal Melbourne Hospital, part of Inner West Area Mental Health Service.

  • 12 months pilot project

The Rapid Response Team is a new initiative endorsed by RMH to assist in the identification, management, and support of patients with a Behaviour of Concern (BOC). You will be part of team that includes a General Medicine registrar.

  • Team will be a consult service and provide a response across RMH City Campus.

  • Team will contribute to assessment and management of patients with a BOC.

  • Liaise with various other specialities and seek assistance as required.

  • Operate in a dynamic, fast paced environment and work closely with General Medicine Registrar.

Your new role

  • Provide assistance to staff in the recognition, and management of behaviours of concern across Royal Melbourne Hospital

  • Provide a person-centred coordinated model that will meet the complex and changing needs of patient's presenting with distress and concern across the hospital

  • Assist home teams to adapt to the changing needs of the patient, ensuring the most appropriate resources are assigned, treatment plans are in place and priorities defined

  • Develop and excel in your clinical assessment and application of knowledge of medical and psychiatric disorders that may be contributing to a BOC.

  • Promote developed communication skills and be able to liaise with various specialities.

  • Contribute discipline specific expertise to a supportive multidisciplinary team.

About You

  • Possess formal qualifications and registration as Registered Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Senior Allied Health Professional

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of conditions that may contribute to a BOC.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of mental illness and the assessment of disorders including relevant legislation pertinent to the role.
