Senior Clinician - Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD)

  • Part Time role | 12 months Fixed Term
  • Deliver AOD assessments and interventions to mental health consumers
  • Work in MWAMHS Residential Bed Based Mental Health Teams (CCU, Burnside PARC and Women’s PARC)

Your Team:


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health and/or AOD Clinician to join the MWAMHS residential bed based mental health teams.

The Senior Clinician will deliver AOD assessments and interventions to mental health consumers of the service

You will support the treating teams to both develop skills in formulation and planning for consumers with co-occurring substance use and to integrate AOD treatment into consumer care.

Your new role:


  • Delivery of integrated AOD treatment and interventions to consumers working alongside MWAMHS clinical teams
  • Primary consultation to consumers with co- occurring substance use
  • Secondary consultation to treating team where a consumer may not wish to engage in further AOD assessments.
  • Provision of education to clinical staff about drug and alcohol treatments, interventions, and services.
  • Participate in supervision and team reflective practice
  • Provide expert opinion regarding diagnostic impressions, formal diagnostic assessments, feedback on process considerations and treatment planning considerations /advice

About you:

This is a multidisciplinary role and is open to Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychologists.


  • You will have a qualification as a Social Worker, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Clinical Psychologist
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the mental health and/or AOD sector delivering assessment, interventions and care planning
  • You are committed to developing your practice as a professional in clinical mental health and alcohol and other drug
  • You can contribute and function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and enjoy working autonomously
  • You are confident in the provision of support and treatment for consumers experiencing drug and alcohol related issues and their families
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in computer software systems
  • Hold a current Victorian Driver’s Licence
