Reporting to the Manager, Team 2, Advanced Analytics, the Senior Data Analyst will support the delivery of wide ranging and rapid response projects to senior stakeholders within the Health and Human Services portfolio as well as across the Victorian Government. You will have demonstrated experience liaising with Government stakeholders to clarify their requirements and delivering on their requests to their required quality standards, within project scope and timeframes. This would be supported by your proficiency in advanced statistical techniques executed through SQL, Python and/or R; skills in project and time management; verbal and written communication. Typical projects would involve working with stakeholders to define and analyse cohorts of vulnerable Victorians to better inform the development of early intervention Government policies to improve client outcomes. You will extract service usage and demographic information from databases and detect and analyse patterns of service usage using advanced analytical techniques. The work will support better targeting of funding to vulnerable cohorts in the Department of Health and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. The successful applicant will gain a good understanding of the health and social services sectors, and have the opportunity to make significant contributions towards improving the lives of Victorians.

Applicants must have proven capability in the application of advanced analytical techniques.

The Senior Data Analyst is expected to collaborate with stakeholders in government including policy staff.  The successful applicant is therefore expected to possess demonstrated competence in communicating analytical results to a non-technical audience.

Mandatory Vaccination Policy

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its workers and clients. As it is an essential element of any role within the department that employees be able to attend work onsite and to do so safely, employees are required to be up-to-date with their vaccinations against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment. This requirement applies unless they have a medical condition which means they cannot be vaccinated against COVID -19. Therefore, the department will ask any prospective employee, who has been identified as the preferred candidate for a role within the department, to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status prior to any offer of employment being made. If a prospective employee has a relevant medical condition which means they cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19, they should contact the department to discuss their individual circumstances.

Applicants are encouraged to apply online, submitting a cover letter and a current resume.
