About the Community Engagement Team:

CFA's Community Engagement team drives and oversees a range of initiatives with the ultimate aim of leading and supporting engagement for safer communities. This is done through:


  • Exploration: Strategy and Policy analysis, business planning, aligning plans and strategies

  • Creation: Development of creative solutions based on stakeholder/customer needs, program development

  • Empowerment: Enhancing and building member knowledge, skills and capacity for engagement

  • Enablement: Provision of current, timely, accessible and consistent key messaging, advice and direction to enable and empower community engagement activities

About the Role:

As Senior Engagement Advisor, you will play a key role in providing leadership and support to the team - assisting on the development of key partnerships, key messaging and with the adaptation of programs and initiatives to a wide variety of audiences. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of new approaches and initiatives supporting regional projects and working with stakeholders across various sectors to ensure best-practice approaches are adopted. You will also provide strategic advice on the ongoing development of programs and initiatives to ensure the content and messages are relevant to different audiences by utilisation of a range of communications approaches, channels and modes.

Further detailed responsibilities include:


  • Provision of high-level strategic advice to Team Leaders and Manager Community Engagement on community engagement programs, partnerships and regional initiatives.


  • Developing plans and managing projects using appropriate methodologies.


  • Provision of participatory or human-centred approaches and creating content which will engage stakeholders to create solutions that meet emerging and long-term needs.

About You:

To succeed in this key role, tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. social or health science, education, community engagement, community safety, project management) are preferred and relevant industry experience is essential. You will demonstrate highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including strong negotiation, public speaking and facilitation and excellent writing skills as well as strong budget management experience with the ability to forecast and produce accurate reports periodically.

You will be assisted by your highly developed organisational and planning skills in the context of a complex, changing business environment requiring agility and flexibility. You will also require proven leadership skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at varying levels and seniority while maintaining effective working relationships and you will have the ability to work autonomously across various locations across Victoria, while maintaining a strong presence within the team.
