About the opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Principal Engineer – Power, the Senior Engineer, Electromagnetic compatibility/Electromagnetic Interference (EMC/EMI) will work collaboratively with technical and environmental disciplines to support the development and delivery of the Suburban Rail Loop project. EMC/EMI activities will be undertaken early in the project to support Environmental Performance Requirements and pre/post-contract award stages for SRL work packages. The Senior Engineer, EMC/EMI will work closely with SRLA, technical advisors and other organisations to proactively identify and resolve complex issues relating to electromagnetic impacts.

About you

  • Provide technical subject matter expertise on EMC/EMI as it applies to all lifecycle phases of the Suburban Rail Loop Project, providing specialist advice within and external to SRLA.
  • Develop and implement appropriate EMC/EMI management plans, strategies and mitigation plans as they apply to all lifecycle phases from development, through delivery, commissioning and into the operations phase.
  • Act as the subject matter expect to support the development of system- and project-level requirements in relation to EMC/EMI, working closely with the SRLA Systems Engineering and Assurance team to develop and review contractor verification against such requirements.
  • Embed System Engineering and System Safety processes into the development and review of matters relating to EMC/EMI.
  • Proactively identify and manage technical, operational, interface and safety risks within the field of EMC/EMI and investigate mitigation treatments.
  • Lead and interface with technical advisors in delivery of quality outcomes in accordance with SRLA’s management plans.
  • Undertake reviews of technical documentation produced by various stakeholders against relevant industry standards, overarching project requirements and other related materials (eg operating concepts).
  • Build strong relationships and competently negotiate with project stakeholders including DoT, VicTrack, emergency services, rail operators, utility service providers, project team members, contractors and consultants, to ensure work is prioritised and delivered on time and to appropriate costs, quality standards, government and community requirements.
