The Department's VAHI division is seeking a Senior ETL Developer to join the Strategic Goals Dashboard project. The Senior ETL Developer will assist with the design and implementation of a centralised dataset for the Strategic Goals Dashboard to be surfaced on the VAHI customer portal.

Key responsibilities will include the design of a roadmap and implementation of the VAHI Information Management Environment (VIME) in Microsoft Azure, creation of dashboards in Power BI, and the administration and maintenance of core data infrastructure.

Key accountabilities

The Senior ETL Developer will assist the design and implementation of a centralised dataset and customer portal.


  • Provide ETL development expertise to enable:
  • Development of physical models based on requirements and conceptual /logical models
  • Reverse engineering where required for measure code & algorithms based on legacy databases and systems
  • Development of end-to-end ETL from source data to future data model and database design
  • Creation of new reference metadata
  • Documentation of all solutions
  • Development of quality gates based on user requirements
  • Contribute to the development of user interfaces
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders within government and in the sector
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
