About us

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) provides a range of government programs and services which focus on improving community safety, victim services, regulatory services and crime prevention, and building strong collaboration across the justice system.

DJCS oversees functions including: Aboriginal Justice, Victim Support, Justice Services, Family Violence, Justice Operations, Regional Services Network, Corrections, Youth Justice, Emergency Management, Police and Crime Prevention, Regulation, Corporate Services, Justice Coordination, and Workplace Safety Policy.

About the role

The Senior Executive Assistant will lead the provision of high-quality executive and secretarial support services to two Deputy Secretary offices being Police, Fines and Crime Prevention and the Corporate Governance and Support group within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department).  In this role you will:

  • provide advice to the Deputy Secretaries and Executive team on a range of matters using knowledge of the department, groups and business units, and their priorities
  • assess and prioritise incoming papers, emails and telephone enquiries and take follow up action by replying to and processing correspondence, ensuring department requirements are met
  • supervise the Executive Support Officer to ensure that both offices run smoothly and efficiently in order meet departmental requirements
  • work collaboratively with the Office of the Secretary, Strategic Advisers, Executive Officers and other staff to ensure that the Deputy Secretaries are well supported, informed and briefed in a timely manner.

About you

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • significant experience in providing executive support and assistance to senior executives within a large, complex organisation
  • the ability to apply organisational frameworks to plan, guide and monitor complex projects and tasks in order to meet long-term objectives
  • extensive previous experience in working with limited supervision in a sensitive, high pressure and fast paced environment.
