The Department of Premier and Cabinet has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Senior Front-End Developer to join the Victorian Centre for Data Insights (VCDI).

VCDI has a whole-of-government role in leading the transformation of the VPS through data driven insights. It is helping to transform the way the Victorian Government uses data to inform policy making and service design on issues that cut across portfolios and are of whole-of-government significance.

As the Senior Front-End Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining front-end web style frameworks to enable engaging and user-friendly web-based data and analytics content. 

You will work closely with a variety of senior stakeholders and sponsors to lead the design, development, testing and deployment of data centric full stack applications. This incredibly important work will enable engaging and data-driven insights to be delivered to key Victorian Government stakeholders.

This role sits at the centre of data, platform and reporting and analytics - leveraging the best use of data across government and the public service.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Strong UX design and implementation skills
  • Experience and expertise in developing Single Page Applications (SPA) or Progressive Web Applications (PWA) using JavaScript frameworks such as VueJS or React.
  • Significant experience with data visualisation to convey information
  • Experience in end-to-end modern web application (JAMStack) architecture.
  • Experience in implementing JavaScript data visualisation packages, such as D3.js, PlotlyJS, Power BI JavaScript API, as well as implementing JavaScript authentication libraries
  • Experience with such as Netlify, Vercel, Digital Ocean, GitLab, GitLab CI, GitHub, GitHub Actions
