About us

On 20 October 2018, the Victorian Government made a commitment to establish a restorative engagement and redress scheme for Victoria Police employees who had experienced workplace sex discrimination and/or harassment.

The Scheme opened on 12 December 2019 and is available to former and current employees of Victoria Police.

The Scheme offers a range of options for eligible participants, including:


  •            access to counselling and wellbeing services


  •            participation in a restorative engagement process


  •            financial redress payments.

The Scheme is administered by the Redress Design business unit within the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Redress Design has five key areas: an Executive Office, Support Services, Restorative Engagement, Assessments, and Operations and Strategy.

About the role

As the Senior Manager, Restorative Engagement, you will be responsible for:

  • leading the delivery of safe and effective restorative processes for participants
  • providing oversight of effective risk assessment and risk management processes
  • establishing processes for mentoring, coaching and supporting staff undertaking restorative engagement work
  • leading the development and implementation of robust policies and procedures that are based on the principles of trauma-informed practices and restorative justice processes.

About you

As the Senior Manager, Restorative Engagement, you will possess:

  • extensive technical understanding of trauma informed practice, methodologies and processes
  • significant experience working as a practitioner in complex therapeutic contexts
  • experience in the strategic planning and delivery of participant-centred restorative practices and service coordination
  • recent demonstrable experience in a leadership role and the capability to think strategically, articulate and write logically.

The role also requires dealing with material that can be challenging and distressing and will best suit a candidate who is resilient and empathetic.
