Senior Manager, Suburban Policy
The Role
Melbourne's suburbs are critical to the success of the city and the State. They are where most Victorians live and work, and they are vital to economic development and social inclusion and Victoria's prosperity into the future. The Senior Manager, Suburban Policy is an important strategic leadership role within the Office for Suburban Development at a hugely important time for the city.
The successful candidate will lead a team of advisors to provide strategic policy advice to Ministers and senior executives on a diverse range of suburban economic and social policy issues. This position is critical to improving government's understanding of suburban economic policy issues, building a strong evidence base and to driving better outcomes for people living in Melbourne's suburbs.
The Senior Manager is the primary policy lead across the Suburban Development portfolio. They will oversee policy and strategy reform projects and work collaboratively with the teams overseeing the Metropolitan Partnership Program and Suburban Revitalisation Program. They will lead strategic engagement across government to develop an integrated, place-based work program that is informed by community insight.
The position supports the work of the Metropolitan Development Advisory Panel and other high level government committees. It provides input to the Office for Suburban Development's planning and strategy processes, including business cases, the budget process, the corporate plan and business planning.

The Team
The position of Senior Manager, Suburban Policy, forms a part of the Office for Suburban Development within the Regional and Suburban Development group.
The Office for Suburban Development leads the Government's vision and policy agenda for Melbourne's suburbs to ensure that as Melbourne grows, it remains a desirable place to live and work.
Community engagement is a key focus. The Office for Suburban Development supports the Metropolitan Partnerships as a source of advice on regional metropolitan priorities. These promote greater coordination across the Victorian Government and between levels of government, business and the community sectors to improve the delivery of infrastructure and services for suburban communities.
