We have an exciting new ongoing VPS7.1 role that will play a pivotal role in providing leadership to the Technical and Regulation teams, and support and technical expertise to the State Building Surveyor and Chief Executive Officer.

In this key permanent role, you will manage two teams of technical professionals in the Building and Plumbing business units within Technical and Regulation.

You will provide high level strategic advice, support and technical expertise to the Director, State Building Surveyor, CEO, Board members and leadership team, represent the VBA on committees, oversee the team to ensure best practice and drive change, innovation and business improvements.

Who we are looking for

  • Extensive experience in developing regulation in a government environment
  • Significant experience in monitoring and assessing the impact of regulation on industries and consumers
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise, negotiate and influence a diverse range of stakeholders and prepare clear, high level advice and documentation
  • Strong leader who can manage and foster high performing teams
  • Current registration as a Building Surveyor (Unlimited) or equivalent experience
  • Qualification in building surveying, management, engineering, architecture or relevant discipline
