The Senior Media Adviser works collaboratively among a team of media experts to manage the Department’s reputation in the media. The team of Senior Media Advisers provide media support and advice to more than 1500 schools, and represent the Communications Division in crisis and emergency situations. The role shares responsibility for the Department’s 24/7 media phone line on a rostered basis, and is required to work varied hours, including evening, early mornings and weekends.

As a Senior Media Adviser, you will:

  • be the key point of contact for journalists to seek information from the Department,
  • be responsible for end-to-end management of media inquiries from journalists, including researching the issue, developing a response, and managing approvals through the Department.
  • work closely with the Department's senior executives and Ministerial offices to ensure media responses are accurate, timely and written in clear and concise language that represents the Department's position.
  • leads the Department's proactive media work, including researching, developing and pitching positive media opportunities that promote Victoria's Education and Training system.

We are looking for 1 full-time and 1 part-time 0.5 FTE Senior Media Adviser contract end date is 30 June 2023.
