Our Mental Heath Drugs and Alcohol Service is seeking an experienced mental health clinicians to join our supportive and forward-looking Community Acute Outreach team. About the service

Sitting within one of Victoria’s six regional health centres, Barwon Health serves the community of Greater Geelong and beyond. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1,200 volunteers. Our Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.

Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.

The Community – Acute Intervention Service is a 7-day-a-week service with two shifts. The team is a tertiary-level multidisciplinary mental health drug and alcohol team. Its aim is to provide timely and effective assessment, treatment and assertive support for individuals aged 16 years and older with high acuity mental health and/or AOD needs up to a maximum of a 28-day period.

About the Role

You will provide acute community assessment and treatment for people in the acute phase of their mental illness and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) use and demonstrate leadership in both the ongoing development of the acute intervention service and day-to-day operations of the team.
