Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist P3

ABOUT THE ROLE: 

  • Part time, locum Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist position, 1 day per week (7.6 hours per week, 0.2 FTE), available immediately until end of July 2024
  • Service-wide contribution to the multidisciplinary treatment of mental health consumers
  • Currently based at a Mercy Mental Health (MMH) community service in centrally located and vibrant Footscray, with occasional travel to other sites (acute, residential, perinatal and community)
  • Provision of comprehensive, evidence-based neuropsychological assessments, high-quality formal reports, recommendations and psychoeducation to support mental health consumers, families and clinicians to implement effective cognitive, behavioural and psychosocial interventions that optimise functioning and quality of life;
  • Provision of expert neuropsychological advice via primary and secondary consultations regarding issues such as complex diagnoses, management planning, decision-making capacity, and behaviour support planning
  • Opportunity to contribute to multidisciplinary workforce education and involvement in service development, as well as potential neuropsychology registrar supervision
  • Working as part of a small Neuropsychology team, under the leadership of the MMH Psychology Lead, and within a supportive larger multidisciplinary team environment, in a service with exciting growth opportunities
  • Position is suitable for a Grade 3 Neuropsychologist with ability to supervise registrars, or a Grade 2 Neuropsychologist ready to progress to Grade 3 and working towards supervision qualification.

ABOUT YOU:

  • AHPRA Registration as a Psychologist with Area of Practice Endorsement in Neuropsychology
  • Relevant post-graduate Masters or Doctoral qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology
  • Psychology Board Approved Supervisor status or working towards the same
  • Training and expertise in neuropsychological assessment
  • Interest in behavioural management and rehabilitation in the context of multidisciplinary client care
  • Clinical competence in mental status examination and risk assessment
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across a larger system
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills, with ability to prioritise workload and coordinate clinical care
  • Experience in providing neuropsychology services for complex mental health presentations and needs

Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.
