If you are looking to utilise your paediatric practice skills, work in a fantastic Paediatric and Woman's team, and care for the young people of Melbourne, then look no further. Western Health is recruiting to a permanent part-time Senior Grade 3 Paediatric Physiotherapist. (24 hours per week available - increasing up to full-time possible in the future)


Western Health provides Physiotherapists with excellent opportunities to learn and develop; including the chance to work across multiple Advanced Practice clinics, interaction with a supportive team of skilled peers, and provision of direct support by Grade 4 Clinical Leads.  The team is based within the state of the art Joan Kirner Hospital which opened in 2019, and is less than 30 mins from the Melbourne CBD.


The Western Health Paediatric Practice Physiotherapy service has a variety of Physiotherapy led advanced practice clinics and roles across the healthcare continuum including:



  • Paediatric Virtual Fracture Clinic

  • Developmental Hip Dysplasia Clinic

  • Paediatric Physiotherapy Led Orthopaedic Clinic


The position on offer will require advanced communication skills, an aptitude for team work and flexibility, along with a passion for mentoring and supporting junior staff.  The successful candidates will also have opportunities to participate in research and quality improvement within the Physiotherapy service, and be supported by senior staff with expertise in these field.

To be successful in this role you will:



  • Have a high level of experience in paediatric orthopaedic conditions

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be able to work both collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and also demonstrate a high degree of autonomy

  • Ensure safe and high quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and the Live Best Care framework

  • Demonstrate flexibility, initiative and leadership skills

  • Be focussed on leadership and team development

  • Possess a good understanding of the orthopaedic journey across the care continuum and demonstrate a passion for delivery of holistic, patient centred care

  • Highly Desirable: Have an interest in training in Paediatric Advanced Practice Physiotherapy including radiological interpretation, differential diagnosis, and management of common paediatric orthopaedic conditions
