Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice & Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).

Senior Planning Officer

• Support the coordination of state-level operational planning
• Challenging and engaging role
• VPSG 4, Full-time Fixed Term until 30 June 2023, Shift work

Reporting to the Lead Planning Officer and working within a small team, you will be responsible for providing state-level operational planning and strategic support to the State Control Team.

Key accountabilities include:

• Provide planning advice and support to the State Control Team in assessing the operational risks of current and emerging state emergencies, and developing objectives, priorities and mitigation strategies.
• Extract and compile information and data in order to contribute to state-level operational planning for readiness, emergency co-ordination and response, and support to recovery planning processes Coordinate effective state-level operational planning for readiness, emergency co-ordination and response, and support to recovery planning processes.
• Support the Lead Planning Officer in providing a comprehensive and coordinated state-wide view of operational planning for readiness, response and recovery activities.

To be successful you will have:

• A sound understanding of the operations of the State Control Centre.
• An understanding of Victoria's emergency management arrangements.
• Strong strategic planning and critical thinking skills.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Early Retirement Scheme:

A re-employment restriction of one year applies to all recipients of an Early Retirement Scheme package from the VPS.
