We have an ongoing opportunity available for a talented and passionate Senior Policy Officer to join the Equality and Youth Branch within the Department of Premier and Cabinet. You will play a vital role in developing policy and implementing programs to support Victoria's LGBTIQ+ communities.

The position will work within the Equality Policy team across a variety of areas in policy development and program support for the Equality portfolio. The successful candidate will be flexible, well organised, and a supportive team player who can build relationships across government and community sectors, and with community members.

The Equality and Youth branch maintains two distinct portfolios:

  • The Equality portfolio - The Branch supports the Minister for Equality and champions diversity and inclusion through developing policies and programs to support and promote lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) communities. The Branch also provides support to the Victorian Commissioner for LGBTIQ+ Communities and the Victorian LGBTIQ+ Taskforce.

  • The Youth portfolio - The Branch supports the Minister for Youth by developing policies and delivering programs that work to improve outcomes for youth in Victoria. The Branch also works to embed considerations of young Victorians aged 12 - 25 into broader government policy, programs and services.

The roles require a proactive self-starter with good understanding of government processes and an ability to work in a complex, sensitive and fast paced environment. As the position will have a lead role in preparing quality and timely ministerial products - including correspondence, briefings, cabinet submissions - capability in these areas will also be highly regarded.
