The successful applicant will lead research and policy projects that contribute to the state’s transition to renewable energy and net zero emission, with a focus on developing large-scale renewable energy generation in Victoria.

The Senior Policy Officer leads research and policy projects that contribute to the state's transition to renewable energy and net zero emission, with a focus on developing large-scale renewable energy generation in Victoria.

The Senior Policy Officer has strong analytical and problem-solving skills to be able to develop policies and plans that are well-considered and fit for purpose. As a technical content owner, this position is responsible for the credibility and integrity of the information provided to senior decision-makers. 

The position requires high-level communication skills to explain complex and interconnected issues and to synthesise these into policy papers, briefs, and reports. The Senior Policy Officer has demonstrated high level inter-personal and stakeholder management skills and the position liaises with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Policy Officer also develops effective working relationships across the Energy Group, the department, and other government departments.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification/s in public policy, economics, engineering, law, science, or an energy related field.
  • Energy sector knowledge and experience is desirable.
