Then you may be an ideal candidate for the role of Senior Policy Officer, a 12-month fixed term position commencing on 1 November 2021.

The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) is the independent statutory authority which regulates Victoria's gambling and liquor industries. Our vision is that Victorians and visitors enjoy safe and responsible gambling and liquor environments. We license, inform & educate, monitor and enforce the liquor and gambling industries through a risk-based approach to regulation. About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and talented Senior Policy Officer to take a lead role in delivering policy projects and implementing legislative reform, monitoring divisional performance data, analysing data to identify emerging trends and issues, and leading the design and delivery of training to new and existing divisional staff on processes and procedures.

Core to being successful in this role will be your strong written and oral communications skills, expertise in building and maintaining high value relationships with stakeholders; experience in developing policy advice within a complex environment and experience in coordinating the collation of data for reporting purposes.

You will have a demonstrated understanding or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the liquor licensing and gambling legislative frameworks.  

The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the division.

The Senior Policy Officer role is a 12-month fixed term position commencing on 1 November 2021.

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • four years minimum experience as a policy officer
  • a qualification in public policy or public administration, regulatory studies, or law
  • a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or demonstrated equivalent experience designing and delivering training programs
