The Senior Policy Officer will contribute to the Diversity team's provision of advice, policy development and coordination in relation to the department's response to the needs of diverse communities, with a focus on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and gender diverse, Intersex and Queer and questioning (LGBTIQ) inclusion.

In particular, the role will lead activities related to the ‘Supporting mental health for trans and gender diverse young people' budget initiative, including:

  • developing a project plan outlining aims, objectives, roles and responsibilities of each partner agency, governance and service approach, key deliverables, targets, timelines and evaluation
  • contract establishment and management of key deliverables and services managed by external community-based stakeholders
  • intra and inter-departmental coordination and external stakeholder engagement to ensure cohesive, collaborative and impactful implementation across various components and providers
  • designing a comprehensive service pathway for trans and gender diverse young people in Victoria, including engaging hospital gender clinics, community mental health services, community advisory bodies, and other identified clinical and community providers.

The position is based in the Community Based Health Services Branch, and will involve close engagement with Mental Health Division and hospital gender clinics.
