An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Education Branch as a Senior Policy Officer.

The Education Branch provides high-quality, strategic analysis and advice on a range of education policy issues to support the Premier and Cabinet. The Branch also contributes to the development and delivery of key policies and priority projects from a whole-of-government perspective across:

  • Early Childhood Education
  • Schools
  • Training and Skills
  • Higher Education

As the Senior Policy Officer, you will provide high quality policy advice and analysis to the Premier, the Secretary, DPC executives and other senior officers across a range of issues within the Branch. In this role, you will work with other departments and other branches across DPC.

This is a fixed-term role until August 2023.

About you

The role is ideally suited to proactive self-starters with good understanding of government processes and an ability to work in a complex, sensitive and fast paced environment.

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • experience in policy analysis, being able to formulate and communicate policy options and recommendations, and exercise sound judgement
  • the ability to keep up-to-date with a broad range of contemporary issues, and understand broader strategic links and potential implications of proposed policy options
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • the ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively in a team environment.
