Do you have strong policy, program management and analytical skills? This role provides a fantastic opportunity to lead the development and delivery of the GAIC Program which delivers infrastructure to Melbourne's Growth Areas.

The Senior Policy Officer will work as part of a high performing team to deliver several projects relating to planning reform and infrastructure policy issues. 

This work includes supporting the Senior Manager, GAIC Program in developing and recommending policy options in response to the Managing Developer Contribution VAGO review, contributing to program evaluation, preparing advice on required legislative changes, preparing briefings and correspondence for Ministers and executives, and influencing and negotiating across a wide range of government, industry and consumer stakeholders to gain agreement to proposals to achieve effective reform outcomes. 

The role will also provide expert advice on portfolio governance and complex policy issues to the Minister and the Department's executive.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in planning, public policy, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of policy initiatives and projects in a State or Commonwealth public service setting is highly desirable.


This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 months.
