POSITION SUMMARY:

The Department of Health (the Department) aspires for all Victorians to be safe, healthy, and able to lead a life they value by driving reform and providing regulatory oversight. Working within the Public Health Division, the Senior Policy Officer, will be part of a team responsible to design, develop and oversee vaccination and testing policy, strategy and activate delivery. The role will work with key stakeholders to support the effective design, implementation, and governance across the system.

The Senior Policy Officer role will be part of a team responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing Rapid Antigen (WoVG) strategy and policy within the Public Health Division. The objective of this role is to support the delivery of a flexible and sustainable WoVG Rapid Antigen Test distribution program, through policy and reporting activities.

Accountabilities

  • Support the Manager of Policy and Coordination with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, guidelines, processes for the appropriate use and distribution of rapid antigen tests. 
  • Support the coordination of Rapid Antigen Test distribution including to priority and at-risk communities.
  • Contribute to effective management of the end-to-end Rapid Antigen Test ordering process for WoVG. This includes monitoring and responding to incoming queries, including complex issues, complaints and general enquiries.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach.
  • Where applicable, oversee, monitor and deliver projects.
  • Conduct training sessions for team, department and external stakeholders where required.
  • Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.
  • Ability to work in high-pressured agile environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take utmost care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.

Mandatory Vaccination Policy

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its workers and clients. As it is an essential element of any role within the department that employees be able to attend work onsite and to do so safely, employees are required to be up-to-date with their vaccinations against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment. This requirement applies unless they have a medical condition which means they cannot be vaccinated against COVID -19. Therefore, the department will ask any prospective employee, who has been identified as the preferred candidate for a role within the department, to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status prior to any offer of employment being made.
