An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Practice Adviser on an Ongoing basis in Operations Support.

The Victorian Senior Practitioner is responsible under the Disability Act, 2006 (Disability Act) for ensuring that the rights of people who are subject to regulated restrictive practices and compulsory treatment are protected and appropriate standards are complied with.

The Victorian Senior Practitioner is responsible for the authorisation of chemical and environmental restraint and the approval for use of seclusion, mechanical and physical restraint and the approval of treatment plans for people who are subject to compulsory treatment orders.

The Victorian Senior Practitioner has special powers under section 27 of the Disability Act in respect of the use of restrictive practices and compulsory treatment by disability services and registered NDIS providers. 

The Victorian Senior Practitioner oversees three teams: the Integrated Practice Advisory Team, the Compulsory Treatment Team and the Research and Data Team.

As a Senior Practice Adviser, you will contribute to a range of operational activities surrounding the authorisation and approval of restrictive practices. Systemic and individual clinical reviews of restrictive practices and quality evaluation of behaviour support plans for people with a disability as defined in the Disability Act.

The Senior Practice Advisers have a key role to influence practice development and contribute to systemic change that is focused on the reduction and prevention of the use of restrictive practices.

You will assist in a range of projects related to the implementation of the legislative requirements of the Disability Act 2006 and systemic and practice improvements that safeguard the rights of people with a disability who have behaviours of concern by providing expert practice advice.

As our ideal candidate, you will be required to demonstrate:

  1. Organisational awareness
  2. Conceptual and analytical ability
  3. Experience with consultancy
