Work location: Melbourne | CBD

The Department of Premier and Cabinet's Procurement branch is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic procurement professional to join the team in this fantastic ongoing role.

The department operates under a de-centralised procurement model, whereby business areas are responsible for the end-to-end sourcing of goods and services and effective contract management, with the Procurement branch supporting these business areas by providing expert guidance, advice, ideas and solutions, while ensuring procurement activities are undertaken within government legislative and policy requirements.

As the Senior Procurement Adviser, you will provide expert advice and guidance to business areas across the department on all stages of the procurement process. You will undertake market research, compliance checks and reviews, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to promote best practice procurement.

You will partner with business areas to build skills in procurement, provide advice, devise solutions and ensure purchasing and contract management activities achieve value for money and are efficient, effective and ethical.

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • experience in a procurement or commercial role encompassing all aspects of the procurement process, ideally within a complex environment
  • proven knowledge and experience in commercial end-to-end procurement
  • the ability to deliver high quality market analysis reports identifying relevant and realistic opportunities
  • highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • a commitment to providing the best possible level of customer service.

A tertiary qualification in procurement or a related discipline and/or membership of a procurement body (CIPS, ISM) would be advantageous.

Working with us, you can make a difference not just in your career, but in the community where you work and live.

This position is only open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia.
