  • Lead a large team on a key strategic government project
  • Location: Negotiable-Flexible (statewide) Manage the Strategic Fuel Breaks program using the DELWP project management framework to drive and facilitate successful delivery across the state.

The Strategic Fuel Breaks and Mechanical works program received significant investment that will support community and asset protection and provide strategic advantage for planned burning and fire control operations in the context of a rapidly changing climate.

The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for the leading the coordinated, comprehensive delivery of the statewide Strategic Fuel breaks and Mechanical works (SFB) program. It also includes coordinating the delivery of a wide range of mechanical treatment operations to reduce fuel hazard in high bushfire risk environments.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, emergency management, economics, public policy, or another relevant degree is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in delivering multiple concurrent major projects with experience in both client and consultant project management.
  • Extensive experience in procurement and management of stakeholders, partners and contractors.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2022. The successful applicant may request to work from any DELWP office location, subject to negotiation and COVID-Safe transitional arrangements.

The departmentplays a major role in Victoria's emergency response activities, through an all-hazards, all-emergencies approach. Staff undertaking these roles have been quarantined from performing emergency management roles and participation in planned burning operations.
