An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Project Manager on a full-time basis in the Office of Projects Victoria.

Office of Projects Victoria (OPV) is an Administrative Office within the Department of Treasury and Finance. OPV plays a key role in overseeing the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects in Victoria. Our purpose is to lead and influence excellence in project delivery to maximise value for all Victorians. Our mission is to be the trusted and independent advisor on project delivery excellence to the Victorian government. We provide advice on the technical scope and cost elements of Victoria's infrastructure program, supporting a strong economy now and for the future.

The main responsibilities for this position include leading initiatives and providing high quality policy advice to the Executive Director, Technical Standards and DTF. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, policy, analytical and communication skills, allied with an ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively in a team environment.

As our ideal candidate, you will be required to demonstrate

Technical capabilities

  1. Extensive experience and proven expertise in project management of infrastructure related projects, with multiple stakeholders and risk management experience.
  2. Commercial or contract management experience in a broad range of delivery models including D&C, alliance and/or PPP.
  3. Demonstrated achievement in the delivery of projects within the scheduled timeframe and budget.
  4. Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in effectively managing complex negotiations with multiple stakeholders.
  5. Highly developed written communication and computer literacy skills. An ability to summarise and depict complex issues, options and solutions effectively to a less technical audience is also a very important capability.
  6. Proven achievement in directing and influencing multi-disciplinary teams, consultants and contractors to achieve corporate goals and project objectives.

  1. Sound decision making and judgement.
  2. The ability to deal comfortably with ambiguity and complexity.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and work productively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Experience working with senior stakeholders in a complex environment.
  5. Experience working collaboratively to develop policy solutions.
  6. Proven ability to provide professional guidance, to influence multi-disciplinary teams and to be an effective team player.
