The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) was established to ensure Victoria's strong economic performance by growing industries and regions. The Department supports a range of diverse portfolios and operates across metropolitan, regional and international offices.

There are multiple positions available for experienced Senior Project Management professionals in the Delivery Group within the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions.

The Delivery Group supports the effective and efficient delivery of high priority departmental projects and grant programs, from program design and sequencing, through to development, delivery, monitoring and program close. In so doing, the Delivery Group ensures the delivery of programs that are critical to the Victorian community and economy.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be leading the delivery of a range of Delivery Group programs and projects, with an emphasis on ensuring the outcomes of these programs and projects, to ultimately enhance and grow economic and community development.

The Senior Project Manager has remit to lead teams and run priority projects on a day-to-day basis, overseeing and ensuring the production of the required deliverables within the specified constraints of time and cost, to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Provide excellent program and project management and delivery support whilst ensuring continuous improvement of DJPR's program and project delivery.
  2. Engage with client DJPR Groups to understand dependencies for, barriers to, and actions that support timely and accurate delivery implementation while resolving the root cause of any barrier to execution.
  3. Lead and manage key strategic projects, develop project plans, monitor project performance against objectives, manage risks and issues and evaluation, ensuring that objectives and reporting requirements are delivered on time.
  4. Establish practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organisation. Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test, and deployment management activities.
  5. Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership.

The role requires an individual with a proven history and track record of successful project management, and strong knowledge of government processes. Highly developed and structured problem-solving skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and an ability to bring clarity and structure to the ambiguous is required.
