  • The Senior Project Manager is a fixed term VPS 6.1 role based in Melbourne
  • This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated team player with strong project management skills to lead and coordinate the effective expansion of the Drug Court
  • This role requires expertise and knowledge applicable to efficiently lead the assessment, planning and implementation of the expansion of Drug Court to two regional sites; Shepparton and Ballarat
  • The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for, inter alia, coordinating all project activities to ensure the timely implementation of the expansion project and will contribute to the growth and continued success of the Drug Court

This role will perform a number of critical functions including, but not excusive to, developing and implementing all project documentation, undertaking extensive internal and external stakeholder engagement, managing any risks and issues associated with the project, engaging in change management process and ensuring effective project quality.  The role must also promote the coordination of inputs within the identified controls and timeframes.

About us

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the CSV statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. MCV determines over 300,000 cases per annum at 51 (metropolitan and regional) venues equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

The Drug Court of Victoria (DCV) is a statutory division of the Magistrates' Court of Victoria and part of MCV Specialist Courts and Programs. The division provides an alternative sentencing option to offenders with drug and/or alcohol dependency who have committed offence/s whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol and/or to support their dependency.

About the role

The Senior Project Manager will lead, coordinate and deliver the successful implementation of the Drug Court expansion project, and is responsible for coordinating all relevant activities to ensure the timely implementation of the project with a designated time frame and allocated budget.

Key responsibilities include identifying, planning and documenting activities at each phase of the project and to ensure quality outcomes within scope. The role will also provide expert stakeholder engagement, undertake analysis and assessment, and identify and manage change initiatives. The Senior Project manager will also be responsible for, and manage, a small team of project staff to assist with the delivery of the project.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in project management and delivery and change management
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and experience in the design and implementation of effective work practices aligned to best practice, which can be applied to implementing a Drug Court model
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to facilitate constructive engagement processes and gain cooperation amongst diverse stakeholders with competing interests
  • Knowledge of the Victorian Justice system, solution focused courts and therapeutic jurisprudence is highly desirable
