The Senior Project Officer - Coastal Drone Pilot will work with DELWP, partner agencies, and academic institutions to coordinate fieldwork activities within the Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program (VCMP), including drone-based beach surveying.

We are seeking an experience drone pilot to manage survey protocols and the collection of field imagery data for the Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program. The role will lead the piloting of coastal monitoring surveys across Victoria's iconic beaches and coastline. You will be responsible for ensuring support staff and citizen scientists have necessary training, licensing, quality control and occupational health of safety standards. The skills we require also include proficiency with data processing and application of imagery processing software, coding languages (e.g., Python) and GIS software.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

• Experience coordinating a drone-based mapping and monitoring program, including holding a relevant drone pilot license (Remote Pilot, ReOC, Chief Pilot, and/or Commercial Pilot), extensive personal piloting experience, and experience in coordinating and supervising junior drone pilots and related staff.
• Proficiency in data processing, management, and quality control of data products from a drone program (e.g., digital elevation models), to an industry standard of precision, including capability to use relevant imagery processing software, coding languages (e.g., Python) and GIS software.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 months.
