The Senior Project Officer - Commercial oversees renewable energy project development and implementation of government programs with a specialist commercial focus. The Senior Project Officer - Commercial leads in managing support agreements between the government and large renewable energy project developers. These projects are predominantly wind farms and large-scale solar farms. The Senior Project Officer - Commercial initiates, manages, and leads innovative solutions to enable delivery of energy support agreements in the government context. The position also develops new initiatives and processes for analytics of financial and non-financial outcomes for the state regarding its energy support agreements.

The Senior Project Officer - Commercial supports the Manager, Major Energy Projects and coordinates activities in relation to delivering continual improvement tools to aid in the management of grants and renewable energy support agreements. Relevant programs include the Renewable Certificate Purchasing Initiative, Solar Trams, Victorian Renewable Energy Auction Scheme (VREAS) projects, Bulgana Green Power Hub, Energy Innovation Fund and other major energy initiatives.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification and/or experience in energy, finance, accounting, engineering, technology development or project management with a commercial focus.
  • Project management experience in agile methodologies and experience with MS office, including MS Word and advanced MS Excel is essential.
  • Experience in data analysis and data modelling, including the ability to interrogate and develop new workflows in data analytics software such as Tableau.
  • Working knowledge of commercial and technical issues relating to the Victorian electricity sector and its context in the National Electricity Market will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Victorian government policies and programs relating to the large-scale renewable energy projects will be highly regarded.
