The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) was established to ensure Victoria's strong economic performance by growing industries and regions. The Department supports a range of diverse portfolios and operates across metropolitan, regional and international offices.

There are multiple positions available for experienced Senior Project Officers in the Delivery Group within the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions.

The Delivery Group supports the effective and efficient delivery of high priority departmental projects and grant programs, from program design and sequencing, through to development, delivery, monitoring and program close. In so doing, the Delivery Group ensures the delivery of programs that are critical to the Victorian community and economy.

As a Senior Project Officer, you will be leading the delivery of a range of DJPR programs and projects, with an emphasis on ensuring the outcomes of these programs and projects, enhance and grow economic and community development.

The position works closely with DJPR delivery groups and key internal and external stakeholders to ensure DJPR groups and investments deliver to the expected outcomes. The position will also assist in developing and ensuring compliance with harmonised policies and practices related to best practice program and grants delivery.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Provide program, project management and delivery support to ensure continuous improvement of DJPR's program and project delivery excellence, principles, and practices for department priorities including the delivery of grants.
  2. Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and issues management to engage stakeholders and ensure project deliverables are met.
  3. Develop close and effective relationships with DJPR groups to ensure an efficient and consistent whole of DJPR approach is adopted for delivery of projects and programs of work.
  4. Engage with client DJPR Groups to understand dependencies for, barriers to, and actions which support timely and accurate delivery implementation while resolving the root cause of any barrier to execution. This includes advising areas on improvements to their operating model and procedures.
  5. Demonstrate collaborative and adaptive leadership to foster a high-performance culture that delivers outcomes.

The role requires an individual with a proven history and track record of successful project management, and strong knowledge of government processes. Highly developed and structured problem-solving skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and an ability to bring clarity and structure to the ambiguous is required.
