About the role

Eastern Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing Program has created and developed a Brief Intervention Team (BIT) which incorporates a suicide prevention stream (HOPE).  BIT see people who appear to be experiencing mental ill health or psychological distress, who require a brief period of assessment, recovery-focused planning, therapy and specialist clinical mental health and psychosocial support. The role requires an experienced and highly skilled mental health professional, ideally with a background in working with people to address psychosocial issues, in order to support their recovery striving towards their preferred future.  The role will provide leadership, supervision and support to other psychosocial engagement workers.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Qualifications and registration, as specified in the position description
  • Substantial experience in community mental health practice
  • Have a strong background in psychosocial engagement work in mental health.
  • Demonstrated high level of ability to provide linkage and referral for consumer to relevant services to support their recovery
  • Demonstrated commitment to and ability to work collaboratively with consumers and carers to promote self-determination and enable progress towards reaching personal recovery goals.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Training and experience in Brief Solution Focused Therapy, highly desirable.
