The Senior Scientist Ecological Modelling requires strong skills in developing and evaluating models and applying science to support evidence-based decision making, with a focus on biodiversity

The Arthur Rylah Institute for Environmental Research (ARI) is a leading center for applied ecological research, with an emphasis on flora, fauna and biodiversity issues. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong skills in developing and evaluating models and applying science to support evidence-based decision making, with a focus on biodiversity. The senior scientist will have demonstrated experience and a well-regarded record of research in applied and quantitative ecology. They will deliver project outputs within agreed budgets and timelines and will build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A science degree (preferably PhD) with a major in ecology or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applied quantitative ecology, statistical methods and decision science, including the ability to generate fit for purpose information for applied ecological management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality scientific and technical information including advice, reports, scientific articles and other communication outputs.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 24 months.
