SSOL Senior Solicitor, Victorian Health Building Authority team

POSITION SUMMARY:
The role is available in the Legal, Privacy and Integrity Branch and will provide specialist support to the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA). The position will provide practical, outcome-focused legal advice and support across a broad range of areas including commercial property agreements (for example development agreements, leases and licences), conveyancing, planning, public liability, procurement, statutory interpretation, Charter of Human Rights and natural justice.
VHBA is a branch within the Department of Health and is responsible for the planning and delivery of the health infrastructure program, including new hospitals and ambulance stations, aged care and mental health facilities, redeveloping existing hospital facilities, as well as replacing and upgrading engineering infrastructure and medical equipment.
The Senior Solicitor will be required to provide authorativative, timely and practical legal advice on a variety of legal matters and support a variety of projects including strategic proporities for the department. You will also prepare written reports and briefings to Ministers, the Secretary, the Department of Health and clients with a particular focus on construction and property law matters. The role may also be required to manage general litigation and oversee the drafting of legislation and regulations. You may also be required to prepare Ministerial correspondence, Cabinet submissions and other written reports and briefings to clients.
