Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) is the statutory authority responsible for regulating, conducting and promoting greyhound racing in Victoria, a sport that annually generates around $400 million in economic activity and over $3 billion in wagering and directly involves over 15,000 people. The Greyhound Racing Integrity Unit (GRIU) Stewards Panel is key in upholding the integrity of the industry through ensuring transparent and fair conduct of racing.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the GRIU Stewards Panel leadership team.
The Senior Stewards work collaboratively in supporting the Chief Steward and Deputy Chief Steward to ensure consistency in the conduct of all Victorian greyhound racing meetings, ensuring the delivery of the highest degree of fair and transparent practices for the sport. Race meetings are conducted at 13 clubs across the state.
Senior Stewards are responsible for assisting ongoing improvements to relevant policy, guidelines, and procedures. You will investigate race day incidents and potential breaches of the Rules of Racing, prepare reports, and provide evidence to Victorian Racing Tribunal (VRT) enquiries and attend appeals at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
A key focus of the role is operational guidance and leadership of a team of Panel members made up of stewards, judges, and data operators. The role requires flexible working with a combination of day, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts determined by the GRV race meeting schedule.
