Victoria Police's Digital Services and Security Department is creating high-performance teams that will deliver technology solutions to our organisation's more than 22,000 people state-wide.

About the role:

As a M365 Senior Systems Engineer within the Modern Workplace team, you will take the ownership for support and maintenance of the Microsoft 365 platform. The role includes administration, implementation, and maintenance of the current and new Microsoft 365 cloud services. In addition, the position will be responsible for managing escalated issues relating to applications or cloud services through to resolution.

 

  • You will bring your specialist experience on Microsoft 365 best practises
  • Administration, implementation, and maintenance of current and new Microsoft 365 cloud services
  • Management of information protection and advanced compliance capabilities for the platform
  • Create and maintain a contemporary Modern Workplace environment to enable and improve end user experience.
  • Manage escalated issues relating to applications or cloud services through to resolution
  • Proactively perform maintenance activities, while deploying and documenting technical solutions
  • You will also maintain strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders

As part of the team you will:

  • Provide specialised technical expertise, guidance, and recommendations on delivering Modern Workplace solutions, leveraging Microsoft 365 products and services.
  • Provide 3rd level support and manage escalations for Microsoft 365 services.
  • Design and configuration of relevant business components according to agreed business need.
  • Planning, developing, and implementing Microsoft 365 services for current and future needs.
  • Execution of application and/or platform changes, releases, and service requests.
  • Maintain Governance and Security Model for Microsoft 365.
  • Extend identity and threat protection with integrated and automated security.
  • Drive continuous improvement and reduction in manual effort by automating deployments and configuration updates.
  • Mentoring the internal team to develop their Microsoft 365 support and maintenance skills.
  • Maintain knowledgebase articles and documentation for internal support teams and end users.  

 

The skills and experience you will add to our team include:

  • Experience in Microsoft 365 technologies, Mobile Device Management, AD/Azure AD
  • Extensive PowerShell skills including development of ground-up scripting across Active Directory and other Microsoft 365 services
  • Experience with migration paths from on-prem solutions to Microsoft 365
  • Microsoft and ITIL certifications are highly regarded
  • Experience in Azure Information Protection, Power Platform and Teams Voice is desirable.
  • Best practice knowledge of Information management techniques, including application of retention and sensitivity labels via Microsoft Security and Compliance Centre.

About You:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft 365 and Azure technologies and services
  • Administering and maintaining a range of networks and systems
  • Experience in resolving high level IT issues escalated within the Service Desk
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both oral and written form
  • Conceptual and analytic skills
  • Ability to mentor team members and collaborate with peers
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent customer service orientation.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) full time, fixed term (3 years) position available.
  • VPSG5 salary range $102,637 - $124,183 p.a + super
  • Position located at 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • The incumbent of the position may be required to be on stand-by/recall outside the ordinary hours of duty. Allowances will be paid in accordance with the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.
