The Surface Water Assessment and Modelling Team plays a key role in ensuring that decisions about Victoria's surface water resources are supported by the best-available information, surface water assessments and modelling.

The Senior Water Resource Analyst/Modeller will provide strategic technical advice on the implementation of Water for Victoria, including the water entitlement framework, interstate water sharing arrangements, and policy and management decisions, and will support the transition to the new Source modelling platform by undertaking modelling and assessment tasks for effective management of Victoria's surface water resources. The position will also play a key role in communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders about technical aspects of surface water systems related to effective management of Victoria's water resources.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in science or engineering is mandatory.
  • Specialist expertise in surface water resource assessment and modelling, including experience and proficiency in application of various surface water modelling tools (e.g. Source, REALM etc.) is mandatory.
  • Proven experience of managing complex water resources projects is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Victorian water supply systems and the Murray-Darling Basin is desirable.
  • Project management experience is desirable.
