Ophthalmologist Sessional - Orbital, Plastics and Lacrimal (OPAL) Unit
Situated only minutes from the Melbourne CBD, The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is a world class specialist hospital in eye and ear care providing services across Victoria. As Australia’s only specialist eye, ear, nose and throat hospital, the Eye and Ear has been providing care for the senses for 150 years. The Eye and Ear has almost 60 different outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss and provides a 24-hour emergency eye and ear, nose and throat service. Every year the Eye and Ear cares for over 220,000 patients, with over 160,000 outpatients, nearly 44,000 emergency patients and over 17,000 inpatients.
About the role:
An opportunity exists for a motivated and experienced Ophthalmologists to join the OPAL Unit at the Eye and Ear Hospital in East Melbourne. This busy unit is currently staffed by eleven consultants, trainee registrars and the fellow.
The sessional allocation for clinics and theatres will be negotiated with the successful applicant(s). These sessions will also include a commitment to general clinics (acute & surgical ophthalmology and emergency sessions). There is a component of oncall duty.
