Senior Social Worker

Acute Medical Services

  • Leadership across acute medical unit, general medicine and infectious diseases

As a senior clinician, you will provide key clinical services and leadership to the multidisciplinary team which includes the weekend service. This role involves the provision of exemplary Social Work service, supervision and education of student and junior Social Workers and will be a leading member of our supportive team. The Social Work team consists of over 40 staff members who work across the City and Royal Park Campuses in acute, sub-acute and community based services across a range of specialties. This position has a leading role in ensuring excellence in patient care, organisation of clinical and professional teams and fostering staff development.

Relocation support is available to interstate and international applicants.

Your new role:

  • Provide advanced social work service across the medical team including infectious diseases, general medicine, acute medical unit, as well as across the wider organisation to meet service demand.
  • Foster positive team and workplace culture as a senior Social Worker.
  • Assist in the review and implementation of social work service development, policies, procedures in line with Social Work standards and strategic directions for the service, team and The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
  • You will be well supported by onsite Social Work Clinical Lead (Grade 4), Social Work Manager, Senior Social Work colleagues and the Social Work team.

About you:

  • You have acute hospital experience with a collaborative working style.
  • You are looking to demonstrate your advanced social work skills and work with world leaders in medical care, learning and research.
  • You demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills and stakeholder management skills.
  • You have recognised experience and knowledge in acute hospital care and ability to apply policies and processes to meet challenges.
