The Xamarin Mobile App Developer supports the Technology Solutions Unit (TSU) within the Department (DELWP) to build and maintain Xamarin mobile apps that support the Department's Emergency and Land Management software platforms.

As a Mobile App Developer in our team, you are going to be creating products that support firefighters and other emergency responders to combat bushfires, as well as helping to keep the community safe. You will be joining a highly motivated team driven to deliver great products. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development of Android/iOS apps for our Emergency and Land management Platform.


  • Development of mobile application features Xamarin, including expanding the functionality of existing applications and associated improvements to back-end services.
  • Working with the development and design teams on new requirements to expand mobile app functionality to meet new business requirements and scope.
  • Expected to be able to work both autonomously and within a team whilst providing creative solutions to problems.

Key Skills:

  • Experience working with Xamarin to develop both iOS & Android mobile apps.
  • Proficiency working with C# and .NET Core
  • UI/UX experience highly regarded.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work both individually and as part of a team.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Strong competency in building cross-platform mobile apps using Visual Studio, including developing applications with the Xamarin platform using Xamarin.Forms 
  • A good understanding of the Xamarin Forms App Life Cycle. 
  • A good understanding of the Apple App store and Google Play Store build and release processes.  
  • Strong Experience using Xamarin.Forms, Xamarin.Android & Xamarin.iOS 
  • A good understanding of mobile platform specific features for Android and iOS, including extensive knowledge of App Resources/Styles. 
  • Experience developing against common API technologies including REST. 
  • Understanding of Agile concepts and experience working in a true Scrum development environment. 
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in the design and development of information systems. 
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment strategies and software (e.g. GitHub, Jenkins) 
  • Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a Scrum team environment. 
  • Experience and knowledge of native mobile application technologies such as Objective-C, Swift and Java is advantageous but not essential. 

This is a fixed term position.
