About the branch and role
We are currently looking for a passionate and motivated lawyer to join the VGSO as a Solicitor in our Police Advisory Branch.
The Police Advisory Branch provides legal services, strategic advice and representation to the Chief Commissioner of Police and, by extension, all Victoria Police personnel across the State. The branch is involved in a diverse range of matters, including but not limited to:
The majority of the successful candidate's case load will be proceedings in the Court of Appeal.
About the successful applicants
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience providing oral and written advice, carrying out complex legal research and analysis, advocating in various jurisdictions, working collaboratively in a team and building positive relationships with stakeholders.
You will have demonstrated experience working on complex litigation with tight timeframes and an understanding or willingness to learn about the principles and practice of law in the following areas:
Please note a requirement of this role is holding a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance or be willing to obtain one.
