This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified person to join the team at MDHS in a role as Speech Pathologist. This position will work collaboratively to provide an effective Speech Pathology service at MDHS across the range of services and programs offered by the health service. New grads welcome to apply.

Speech Pathologist

Fixed Term - Part Time –32 hours per fortnight

Classification: Speech Pathologist Grade 1 – depending on experience

Award: Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Health Sector) Single Interest Enterprise Agreement 2016 – 2020

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualifications / Experience

  1. Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) or equivalent;
  2. Eligibility for practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
  3. Broad clinical background, or if a graduate, broad placement experience relevant to the role within a rural health service
  4. Current driver's licence.

Specialist Expertise

  1.  Broad understanding of issues facing vulnerable families in the community.
  2.  Recognition of possible challenges to work effectively in a community setting, to achieve best    client outcomes.  Able to discuss client needs with colleagues in a professional manner.
  3. Ability to communicate and advocate in a timely and effective manner with clients, their families/ carers and other health professionals.
  4. Understanding and commitment to person-centred care and the principles of self-management.
  5. Computer skills and willingness to learn new software applications.

Personal Qualities

  1. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
